New Blog Direction + Biz Updates

Mayra here. It’s been a while since I last blogged and there are many reasons for the hiatus. The long and short of it is that my business has grown and my family of clients has kept me quite busy. Some days have been so long, sleep has been a luxury and blogging … well, often sitting town to blog for myself seemed like a long lost dream.

Well, times have changed since November 2009. Given the volume of work that kept on coming, I was forced to make some critical decisions about my business. After much reflection, I decided to push ahead and have since added various talented team members to augment my offerings.

Which leads me to the “I” vs. “we” topic…

Since increasing my team from a me, myself and I operation to a “we” team with various key team players, the past few months have required me to transition my language from “I” to “we” or from “my” to “our.” It’s been a transition for me after building up this marketing practice single-handedly from scratch (literally) about 3 years ago. But it’s a positive transition and one which has not only benefited me tremendously but has also benefited my clients greatly as well.

Therefore, from here on out, it’s gonna be all about the “we” and less about “me” … but if you miss “me” LOL … you can always visit my new blog, the mayra files, which I launched to be able to share those personal, random ramblings that most who followed me in the past grew to love and enjoy.

Bottom line: blog posts after today will be more about my new team, our projects, adventures, ideas and commentary. Yes, while I may continue to be the primary author of many future blog posts to come, I will also have team members publish blog posts, too. I also am in search of some great guest bloggers and perhaps even may get some clients to blog here as well.

For those of you who followed me way back when I was (self-dubbed) “marketing misfit” … that marketing misfit persona will always be a part of me. Today, however, is a new day and my marketing misfit days are part of an era past. While I still am a marketing “maverick” who isn’t afraid to be innovative and doesn’t fear new approaches or schools of thought, I feel I have also grown professionally in the last three years. I hope many of my future writings will help to share much of that growth with those who seek to further their knowledge about all things marketing and social media in this zany place we call The Web.

Thanks for being here. Your ideas, thoughts and commentary are welcome here … always.
