Last week, despite my best intentions to attend the #growsmartbiz conference (hosted by our friends at Network Solutions) and connect or catch up with peers, friends and colleagues, alas I was unable to go. Why? Simply, our clients needed our time, attention and service.
While the beginning of the week looked like attending the conference was open, as the week progressed and client projects lined up in the queue, it became clear by Wednesday that at our Friday attendance to the conference may be impacted. By Friday morning, we knew without question that going to #growsmartbiz would not be possible.
As a general rule of thumb, on occasion, a client or a project will have a need that requires us to put our own needs and wants on the back burner. Our #growsmartbiz attendance was no exception.
That all said, did Elizabeth and I miss out on mingling, networking and connecting with peers at #growsmartbiz? We sure did. But honestly, I would not have been able to enjoy myself while attending this or any conference or event at the expense of a client’s needs and wants.
It’s a fine balance to manage client and project needs along with our own. But in most cases, there is little competition; clients will usually always win. Their trust in and patronage of our team is front and center, 24 x 7.
So … while we totally missed our friends at last week’s #growsmartbiz, we look forward to future opportunities to catch up, mingle and connect with peers and colleagues.
Until then, we dive back into client projects …
