Seems like EVERYWHERE I turn or go, most businesses are promoting their Facebook vanity URLs as opposed to the URL of their own web sites. The napkin shown above was double-sided and promoted United’s Facebook and Twitter’s presence.

Usually, however, the big rave and whoop-tee-do-hoopla to plug is a Facebook vanity URL, more so than promoting one’s Twitter handle. Honestly, I almost can’t watch any TV these days without seeing countless commercials promoting their Facebook presence. I would have to say that 9o% of the companies on TV today are promoting their Facebook vanity URLs; about 5% or so promote their Twitter handles and the rest promote their actual site URLs.

I find this to be a very curious and telling trend. What this means is that large, mainstream and well-funded companies and businesses are investing/spending *huge* advertising dollars on television to NOT promote their web site URLs! If this isn’t telling or revealing enough as to what these corporation giants feel or think about Facebook’s impact and reach capability, I don’t know what is …
