I used to have a Digg account and had really enjoyed “digging” business news items pertaining to marketing, PR and social media. But then the whole Digg Drama took place where they had upgraded/updated their site and features and I guess many in the Digg community had revolted over the changes. I had tried to login to my account after all the hoopla but for reasons unknown I discovered that after the Digg changes, I was completely locked out of my profile. I really don’t know wth happened but regardless, I didn’t have time to fiddle with it all and just tossed my hands up, never really went back and life moved on.
I’m not sure what brought me back to Digg a few minutes ago but before I knew it, I was sitting here typing and all the while wondering, “Hmmm, so whatever did happen to Digg?” Soon after I found myself typing the Digg URL into the browser address bar and voila, there it was in all its social news glory: the Digg.com home page …
Unfortunately, Digg still doesn’t seem to know remember me and even the email address I had used for my former Digg account is not being recognized so I had to create an entirely new account. Digg is a good place to see what news items are generating conversations or high interest. But I don’t always follow the top news items and I would encourage you to do the same. In fact, you will be surprised with just how many little news or content gems you will find that have only been dugg (shared or voted up) a handful of times.
So I guess I’m back on Digg and having to start over with the re-building of my profile and all but I’m hoping to stick around longer than I did my last go ’round. If you’re out there on Digg, find me and let’s connect!
